如何運用句子有效率記生字

受政治大學外語學院院長陳超明院長演講,要運用句子來記單字一席話的影響,乃第一次嘗試讓學生查課本生字的句子。由於國中課本的生字並沒有造句,僅列出詞性,筆者常常自己補充相關句子給學生。


然後,利用國七共四個班學生每班同一號,利用同一個生字來造句,可自己造句或參考字典全文照抄或加以改寫於一紙上,筆者利用電腦word檔修改完畢印給學生。再利用每堂零星時間讓學生講解該生所查生字及句子。同一生字的另外三句則由筆者講解。以下完整呈現翰林版國七第一冊第五、六課(一部分)的句子:

講義編排方式及交授方式:

1. 中文解釋因為課本已有,故省略,除非學生查到其他意思,才列出中文,例如book1 lesson 5 生字 16與 11。

2. lesson 5生字11 列出另一個詞性:動詞(v)。從第一冊第一課起就開始教詞性的英文代號, 例如:動詞是 v,形容詞是 adj,名詞是 n,副詞是adv,連接詞則是conj等,以銜接高中教材及易於查看字典。

3. 遷就所學句型,大多數句子用現在式,若句型、例句或單字超過所學則要多

花時間解釋,較費時。

4. 有些班級中間有空號或因程度有別而使部分學生交換所查生字,故某個生字

各班號碼略有不同。

5. 同一個生字但為不同班級學生所查出之句子為同一句時,則改寫一、二個生

字,例如: lesson 5 生字18: 704-17 及705-20 皆為 Give me something to eat,

將另一句705-20: 改為: Give me something to drink.

6. 講解此份講義時,讓學生欣賞哪個學生句子造得好,哪個生字用的好,或哪

個學生較有創意,願意花時間造句子。程度佳者喜歡自創句子,例如:第5課生字16的706-16: Harry is hungry(渴望的) to go to North Carolina.

7. 學生利用課堂時間查生字及句子,若有任何問題則隨時來問。

結論:新的嘗試是較費時,但同一個生字運用三、四個句子來教學,以達利用句子瞭解生字,學生較易將該生字學好及吸收,效果頗佳,但對程度差的學生會較吃力, 教時則要他們將課本生字儘量弄熟即可, 將來哪天開竅時,就會更進步,以避免學生有挫折感。
